The letter day is E
Dear Sandy Creek Middle School Families.
Welcome to what promises to be another amazing school year at Sandy Creek Middle School. It has been an unusually warm summer, and I hope this letter finds your family enjoying all that our area offers for relaxation and fun. I am excited about the upcoming year and welcoming back all of our students and teachers. It also gives me great pleasure to introduce some new additions to our staff this year. Ms. Christina Weaver will be teaching art in the elementary and middle school. We also have a new face in 8th grade, Ms. Sandra Shibley, who joins our team as a special education teacher.
Our job in the middle school is not solely to teach grade level curriculum and skills but to provide a solid foundation for future success in high school and beyond. Research supports the following three variables as predictors of future success in high school; grades, attendance, and behavior. We will continue to set high academic and behavioral expectations for our students. Our goal is that all students will graduate and be college and career ready.
We also know that family support and communication significantly contributes to the success of our students and we look forward to continuing that partnership.
September is Attendance Awareness Month. I will be addressing the importance of good attendance with our students during our first month together. Students must be present and on time for school in order to do well. Instruction begins at 8:15am and ends at 3:05pm. The attached flier, Pay Attention to Attendance, details facts concerning attendance.
Enjoy the remainder of these beautiful summer days. We will see you on the 6th.
